How to grade operators skill in the garment industries? For cutting, sewing and finishing section employees
A. Grading:
Every employee
is graded based on their actual skill known and actual performance. The grading
process will be done by IE followed by the actual details of employees.
Example: Process skill, Machine Skill, Actual performance, quality in their
works, etc. the authenticated input is obtained from actual production report,
skill matrix, and operators performance report.
B. Type of grading:
Grade A: Skilled operators
Grade B: Semi-skilled operators
Grade C: Basic Operators
Grade D: beginner operators
Grade E: None sewing process

D. Criteria in grade wise
1. Criteria for A-Grade:
·
The operators should be done minimum one A-Grade category
process.
·
That operation’s actual efficiency / Performance
should be 70 % and above.
·
They should be known minimum three other process
in B, C & D.
·
Also should be flexible to espouse and balance
for those process.
2. Criteria for B-Grade:
·
The operators should be done minimum one B-Grade category
process.
·
That operation’s actual efficiency / Performance
should be 70 % and above.
·
They should be known minimum three other process
in C & D.
·
Also should be flexible to espouse and balance
for those process.
3. Criteria for C-Grade:
·
The operators should be done minimum one C-Grade category
process.
·
That operation’s actual efficiency / Performance
should be 70 % and above.
·
They should be known minimum three other process
in D&E.
·
Also should be flexible to espouse and balance
for those process.
4. Criteria for D-Grade:
·
The operators should be done minimum one D-Grade category
process.
·
That operation’s actual efficiency / Performance
should be 70 % and above.
·
They should be known minimum three other process
in E & Others.
·
Also should be flexible to espouse and balance
for those process.
5. Criteria for E-Grade:
·
The operators should be done minimum one E-Grade category
process.
·
That operation’s actual efficiency / Performance
should be 70 % and above
· They should be known minimum three other process in E & Others.
· Also should be flexible to espouse and balance for those process.
Note: The efficiency limit is assumed, based on the factory’s products and change over. It could be redefined.
Interesting topic. But Not very clear in few points. All operators should be above 70% efficiency ? All Non machine Operators are falls under F ? Please review again !
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments.
DeleteYour point is right, 70% is quit high for start up and some different kind of products.
Least case we have to consider their cycle time should be close to 70% SMV.
And based on product mix, the slab can be revised.
Dear Mr. Arukugam,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your great update on Industrial Engineering Concept.
