HOW TO CALCULATE BUNDLE HANLING TIME? (OR) HOW TO CALCULATE BHT?

HOW TO CALCULATE BUNDLE HANDLING TIME?

BUNDLE HANDKING TIME (BHT):

When we are calculating SAM, we used to add bundle handling time. Without BHT SAM may not be accurate. If the bundling system is not following then not required to consider. Often IE’s missed or not calculated BHT. Bundle handling time does not fall under regular routing performance. So we have to do a separate time study to find the bundle handling time per pies.

a) Bundling handling time need to study at two processes,

b) 1 -untie or open the bundle and other is align and tie the bundle

c) Both times have to observe with a stopwatch and record them

d) Based on the bundle side, the total time has to divided to each piece.

Formula to calculate bundle handling time

BHT = (Observed time untie bundle + Observed time tie bundle) / Bundle quantity

If Bundle opening time = 15 seconds, after completed process bundle tie time = 30 seconds, Bundle quantity = 25 pcs, then

BHT = (15 + 30) / 25

BHT = 45 / 25

BHT = 1.8s per piece --------------------------------------- (a)

This yu can convert into minutes = 1.8/60 => 0.03mint

Reference:

SAM = Observed time x ratting x (1+ Allowances) + BHT

Here, The BHT can be considered as 0.03.

Note: Nowadays, the bundle handling process is eliminating from the sewing shop by using conveyor system, single-piece flow, etc. However, IE has to considered the BHT until the floor uses it.

How to grade operators skill in the garment industries? For cutting, sewing and finishing section employees

A. Grading: Every employee is graded based on their actual skill known and actual performance. The grading process will be done by IE followed by the actual details of employees. Example: Process skill, Machine Skill, Actual performance, quality in their works, etc. the authenticated input is obtained from actual production report, skill matrix, and operators performance report. What is the use of 5S in process analysing? Is it helpful to reduce the processing time?

  A. Introduction Many of us knew that, “The 5S is a tool to organize the work-shop, It is also a tool for process analyzing and improving” This may look like a new concept. The common understanding about the 5S is a tool to organize the workplace . But it is an effective tool for process analyzing and improving . We could apply this concept for a single process or multiple processes to analyze. In end, you could get improvement in the process without any doubts. Because I am experienced to use the tools for cross-functional processes. It is quite an interesting and new dimension of Industrial Engineering for the Process analyzing approach.   B. Cases study for Better understanding   We keep on facing a lot of problems on the productions floor. In some processes achieving production with quality is complicated. Subsequently, it is becoming a bottleneck in the production line. Example: Process: Scalloping shape Lace attach, Machine: Zig Zag Machine Before Aver...
